Sky Striker Ace – Roze
Ignition Assault comes with two new cards for Sky Striker – Sky Striker Ace – Roze and Sky Striker Maneuver – Scissors Cross!.
Sky Striker Ace – Roze is a much needed Effect Monster to go along with Sky Striker Ace – Raye in the Main Deck, solving some consistency issues of being unable to draw Raye and start the Sky Striker engine going. Roze also can stand on her own, contributing some new combos and providing Sky Striker with a wider arsenal of options.
This article will look at two simple combos that makes Sky Striker Ace – Roze a worthy inclusion in the Sky Striker deck.
Sky Striker Ace – Roze
You can only use each ①② effect of “Sky Striker Ace – Roze” once per turn.
①: If a “Sky Striker Ace” monster(s) other than “Sky Striker Ace – Roze” is Normal or Special Summoned (except during the Damage Step): You can Special Summon this card from your hand.
②: While this card is in your GY, if an opponent’s monster(s) in the Extra Monster Zone is destroyed by battle, or leaves the field because of your card effect: You can Special Summon this card, then you can negate the effects of 1 face-up monster your opponent controls until the end of this turn.
Combo 1: Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage! + Tuner monster
This combo requires the opponent to have a monster in the Extra Monster Zone so that Sky Striker Ace – Roze ② effect can be activated. In this example we will be using Monk of the Tenyi for the opponent’s monster.
- Activate Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage!, add Sky Striker Mecha – Hornet Drones from deck to hand.
- Activate Sky Striker Mecha – Hornet Drones, Special Summon “Sky Striker Ace Token”.
- “Sky Striker Ace Token” → Sky Striker Ace – Kagari.
- Sky Striker Ace – Kagari ① effect, add Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage! from graveyard to hand.
- Activate Sky Striker Mobilize – Engage!, add Sky Striker Ace – Roze from deck to hand.
- Sky Striker Ace – Kagari → Sky Striker Ace – Hayate.
- Sky Striker Ace – Roze ① effect, Special Summon itself from hand.
- Normal Summon Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring.
- Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring + Sky Striker Ace – Hayate → Crystron Halqifibrax.
- Crystron Halqifibrax ① effect, Special Summon Effect Veiler from deck.
- Crystron Halqifibrax + Effect Veiler + Sky Striker Ace – Roze → Borrelsword Dragon.
- During the Battle Phase, use Borrelsword Dragon to attack the opponent’s Monk of the Tenyi.
- Borrelsword Dragon ③ effect, Borrelsword Dragon gains 500 ATK and Monk of the Tenyi loses 500 ATK.
- Borrelsword Dragon deals 3000 damage, and Monk of the Tenyi is destroyed by battle.
- Sky Striker Ace – Roze ② effect, Special Summon itself from graveyard.
- Use Sky Striker Ace – Roze to direct attack the opponent, deal 1500 damage.
- Borrelsword Dragon ② effect, change Sky Striker Ace – Roze to Defense Position.
- Use Borrelsword Dragon to direct attack the opponent, deal 3000 + 500 = 3500 damage.
3000 + 1500 + 3500 = 8000.
In Step 6, Sky Striker Ace – Hayate could be substituted with any other Sky Striker Link-1 monster such as Sky Striker Ace – Shizuku or Sky Striker Ace – Kaina.
Combo 2: Sky Striker Mecha – Hornet Drones + Tuner monster
This combo requires the opponent to have a monster in the Extra Monster Zone so that Sky Striker Ace – Roze ② effect can be activated. In this example we will be using Mekk-Knight Crusadia Avramax for the opponent’s monster.
- Activate Sky Striker Mecha – Hornet Drones, Special Summon “Sky Striker Ace Token”.
- “Sky Striker Ace Token” → Sky Striker Ace – Hayate.
- During the Battle Phase, use Sky Striker Ace – Hayate to direct attack the opponent.
- Sky Striker Ace – Hayate ② effect, send Sky Striker Ace – Roze from deck to the graveyard.
- During Main Phase 2, Normal Summon Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring.
- Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring + Sky Striker Ace – Hayate → Crystron Halqifibrax.
- Crystron Halqifibrax ① effect, Special Summon Effect Veiler from deck.
- Effect Veiler → Linkuriboh.
- Crystron Halqifibrax + Linkuriboh → Ningirsu the World Chalice Warrior.
- Activate Ningirsu the World Chalice Warrior ② effect, send itself and the opponent’s Mekk-Knight Crusadia Avramax to the graveyard.
- Sky Striker Ace – Roze ② effect, Special Summon itself from graveyard.
- Sky Striker Ace – Roze → Sky Striker Ace – Shizuku.
Conclusion
Combo 1 is an alternative method for Sky Striker to OTK using Borrelsword Dragon with Sky Striker Ace – Roze. While the opponent’s monster in the Extra Monster Zone has ATK 1000 or more, then this combo would deal at least 8000 damage, sufficient for lethal.
Combo 2 shows how Sky Striker answers Mekk-Knight Crusadia Avramax by using Ningirsu the World Chalice Warrior. Sky Striker would have to retrieve Sky Striker Mecha – Hornet Drones with Sky Striker Ace – Kagari to have a follow up after Ningirsu. But with Sky Striker Ace – Roze, Sky Striker can now transition smoothly into Sky Striker Ace – Shizuku without having to expend the precious limited Kagari.
Sky Striker Ace – Roze could only get better especially with Sky Striker Ace – Zeke coming out in LINK VRAINS Pack 3. Using Sky Striker Ace – Zeke ① effect to banish opponent’s monster in the Extra Monster Zone is another method to trigger Sky Striker Ace – Roze ② effect.
