Virtual World

Aroma (アロマ) went 6-2 and finished 3rd in “Asaka CS (2v2 Team Battle)” which had 66 teams (132 participants).

He is experimenting with 3 Pot of Prosperity in the Main Deck by cutting Triple Tactics Talent. Although Pot of Prosperity conflicts with several card drawing effects such as Pot of Desires, Stardust Charge Warrior, Coral Dragon and Ravenous Crocodragon Archethys, the added consistency of being able to dig for a specific card makes the opening combo much more resilient. Opponents are also playing around Triple Tactics Talent by activating Maxx “C” and Artifact Lancea preemptively before the Main Phase.

He ran 1 Phantom Fortress Enterblathnir in the Extra Deck. Phantom Fortress Enterblathnir effect does not target, so it could fulfill a similar purpose as Number 39: Utopia Beyond, to answer against monsters that cannot be targeted by card effects such as Transcode Talker co-linked with Decode Talker Heatsoul or a Thunder Dragon monster protected by Thunder Dragonlord ① effect. Phantom Fortress Enterblathnir has added versatility of being able to banish Spell/Trap cards on the field, or banish cards from the graveyard.

Eldlich

Bachon (バチョン) went 7-0 (excluding 1 bye) and finished 1st in “A Seed Cup” which had 43 participants.

More players are starting to run PSY-Framegear Gamma either directly in the Main Deck or the Side Deck. It is a great answer against True King of All Calamities which preemptively activated during the Draw Phase or Standby Phase.

Virtual World monster effects activate in hand or graveyard, making Skill Drain ineffective in stopping their effects. He mixed in Summon Limit and Vanity’s Emptiness in the Main Deck to disrupt Special Summons against swarming decks.

Shaddoll

Doryu (どりゅう) went 8-0-1 and finished 1st in “Peco CS in Yako” which had 57 participants.

Rilliona, the Magistus of Verre purpose is to search for the Fusion spell Magistus Invocation, a similar role as Aleister the Invoker to search for Invocation. When Fusion Summoning a Shaddoll Fusion Monster, Magistus Invocation could use monsters from hand or field as Fusion Material, whereas Invocation could only use monsters from hand.

Witch of the Black Forest has a wide reach in this deck, being able to search for various Shaddoll monsters, Fairy Tail – Snow, Dogoran, the Mad Flame Kaiju, Dinowrestler Pankratops, Denko Sekka, Maxx “C” and Nibiru, the Primal Being. However, it does come with a drawback of being unable to activate the monster effect in the same turn, so it is mainly used to setup for the next turn. Witch of the Black Forest could be Special Summoned by Cross-Sheep or Selene, Queen of the Master Magicians to generate card advantage while Link climbing.

Conclusion

Virtual World and Eldlich occupies the top spot, while Shaddoll, Dogmatika Invoked and Thunder Dragon follows behind.

Players are starting to respect the combo decks such as Dragon Link and Tri-Brigade by running Dark Ruler No More to break their opening setup. This disables Dragon Link’s Borrelend Dragon, Borreload Savage Dragon, Hieratic Seal of the Heavenly Spheres and Tri-Brigade’s Barrier Statue of the Stormwinds, Mist Valley Apex Avian.

  2. DPhall says:

Look at the 7 Thunder Dragon decks in the list. You have them divided in 5 and 2, but they are both Thunder Dragon. One of these should be Chaos Thunder, right?
