Orcust Combo Vol.2

Volume 1 covered the basic opening using the minimal 2-card to start the combo.

In Volume 2, we will be covering the 3-card combos that extends into Borreload Savage Dragon.

 

Orcust Opening with Crystron Halqifibrax

To bring out Borreload Savage Dragon, the combos goes into Crystron Halqifibrax for Jet Synchron, before continuing with the standard Knightmare Mermaid combo.

This puts an additional requirement for the 1-card → Link-2 in that it needs to consist of a Tuner monster for Link Summoning Crystron Halqifibrax.

Like the previous article, we will be using Armageddon Knight and Destrudo the Lost Dragon’s Frisson.

These combos would also work for many other 1-card → Halqifibrax combinations, such as:

  • Deskbot 003‘s effect to Special Summon Deskbot 001.
  • Genex Undine sending Crystron Rosenix to add Genex Controller to hand. Banish Crystron Rosenix to Special Summon a “Crystron Token” and then using it to Link Summon Link Spider, whose effect will then Special Summon Genex Controller from hand.
  • Neptabyss, the Atlantean Prince sending Atlantean Dragoons to add another Atlantean Dragoons to hand. Atlantean Dragoons‘ effect will add Lappis Dragon, whose effect will Special Summon itself from hand.

 

Combo 6: Armageddon Knight + any 2 cards

  1. Normal Summon Armageddon Knight.
  2. Armageddon Knight ① effect, send Destrudo the Lost Dragon’s Frisson from deck to graveyard.
  3. Destrudo the Lost Dragon’s Frisson ① effect, pay half your LP, target Armageddon Knight, Special Summon itself from from graveyard.

  3. Chain 1: The Phantom Knights of Rusty Bardiche ② effect, target 1 card on the field, destroy it.

 

This 3-card combo creates 4 disruptions:

  • Borreload Savage Dragon negates 1 card or effect
  • Dingirsu, the Orcust of the Evening Star sends 1 card to the graveyard
  • The Phantom Knights of Rusty Bardiche destroys 1 card
  • Phantom Knights’ Fog Blade negate 1 monster effects

By having a Tuner Monster to go into Crystron Halqifibrax and an additional card for Jet Synchron‘s cost, this opens up the option to bring out Borreload Savage Dragon.

A key point to note is to Special Summon Jet Synchron from the graveyard before activating any Orcust monsters’ graveyard effects.

 

Combo 7: Armageddon Knight + any 2 cards

  1. Normal Summon Armageddon Knight.

This 3-card combo creates 5 disruptions:

  • Borreload Savage Dragon negates 1 card or effect
  • Dingirsu, the Orcust of the Evening Star sends 1 card to the graveyard
  • The Phantom Knights of Rusty Bardiche destroys 1 card
  • 2 Phantom Knights’ Fog Blade negates 2 monster effects

For this combo, Shooting Riser Dragon could be replaced with T.G. Wonder Magician to destroy an opponent’s Spell/Trap card.

However, due to the constraint of the Extra Deck space, most Orcust decks could only afford to run either Shooting Riser Dragon or T.G. Wonder Magician.

Shooting Riser Dragon is the preferred Tuner Synchro Monster due to its flexibility.

 

Combo 8: Armageddon Knight + any 2 cards

  1. Normal Summon Armageddon Knight.

  2. T.G. Wonder Magician ① effect, target Orcustrated Babel, then use Dingirsu, the Orcust of the Evening Star ② effect to detach Longirsu, the Orcust Orchestrator instead.
  3. Orcust Harp Horror ① effect, banish itself, Special Summon Orcust Cymbal Skeleton from deck.
  4. T.G. Wonder Magician ② effect, T.G. Wonder Magician + Orcust Cymbal SkeletonBorreload Savage Dragon (Left EMZ).
  5. Borreload Savage Dragon ① effect, equip Knightmare Cerberus, place 2 Borrel Counters.
  6. Activate The Phantom Knights’ Rank-Up-Magic Launch, target Dingirsu, the Orcust of the Evening Star, Special Summon True King of All Calamities (2nd MMZ), attach The Phantom Knights’ Rank-Up-Magic Launch and Dingirsu, the Orcust of the Evening Star as Xyz Materials.
  7. The Phantom Knights of Rusty Bardiche ② effect, target 1 card on the field, destroy it.
  8. True King of All Calamities ① effect, detach Dingirsu, the Orcust of the Evening Star, declare an Attribute.
  9. Orcust Cymbal Skeleton ① effect, banish itself, Special Summon Longirsu, the Orcust Orchestrator from graveyard (5th MMZ).

 

This 3-card combo creates 5 disruptions:

  • Borreload Savage Dragon negates 1 card or effect
  • True King of All Calamities prevents monsters with the declared Attribute from activating their effects
  • The Phantom Knights of Rusty Bardiche destroys 1 card
  • Longirsu, the Orcust Orchestrator sends 1 linked monster to the graveyard
  • Phantom Knights’ Fog Blade negates 1 monster effects

Instead of Special Summoning Longirsu, the Orcust Orchestrator from the graveyard, Orcust Cymbal Skeleton ① effect can be used to Special Summon Dingirsu, the Orcust of the Evening Star to send 1 card to the graveyard.

However, Longirsu, the Orcust Orchestrator ① effect can be used to shuffle Crystron Halqifibrax and another Orcust monster back into the deck. This puts both Crystron Halqifibrax and Jet Synchron back into the deck for another use.

Optimally just leave Orcust Cymbal Skeleton in the graveyard first and then only activate it when the situation calls for it.

 

Conclusion

Combo 6 is the most standard combo as it has the lowest requirement of running Jet Synchron, Crystron Halqifibrax and Borreload Savage Dragon.

Combo 7 requires an additional Shooting Riser Dragon to end with another Phantom Knights’ Fog Blade and Galatea, the Orcust Automaton.

Shooting Riser Dragon‘s effect could send Level 3 monsters such as Orcust Cymbal Skeleton, The Phantom Knights of Ancient Cloak or The Phantom Knights of Silent Boots, and their graveyard effect could be used on the next turn.

As that would cause Shooting Riser Dragon‘s Level by to become 4, using The Phantom Knights of Shade Brigandine would still enable it to Synchro Summon Borreload Savage Dragon.

Combo 8 is the ultimate combo that locks out your opponent, but it is largely outdated because it requires running sub-optimal cards like The Phantom Knights’ Rank-Up-Magic Launch and T.G. Wonder Magician.

A second Phantom Knights’ Fog Blade is heavily preferred as it is very useful against the top decks in the current OCG 2019.01 competitive scene.

Against Salamangreat, Fog Blade hits Salamangreat Gazelle and Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf.

Against Sky Striker, Fog Blade hits Sky Striker Ace – Kagari and Sky Striker Ace – Shizuku.

Against Orcust mirror match, Fog Blade hits Knightmare Mermaid and The Phantom Knights of Rusty Bardiche.
