Dragon Tail
Hieratic Seal of the Heavenly Spheres is a strong opening play for Dragon Tail as its ② effect could Special Summon Dragon Tail Mulr from deck. Then Dragon Tail Mulr ① effect could be used to perform a Fusion Summon during the opponent’s Main Phase.
The Primite package is able to setup Hieratic Seal of the Heavenly Spheres, giving access to a powerful disruption in Primite Drillbeam, while not playing into the opponent’s Retaliating “C”.
A combo opening with Primite Lordly Lode and 1 Monster Card is as follow:
- Activate Primite Lordly Lode ① effect, add Primite Dragon Ether Beryl from deck to hand.
- Normal Summon Primite Dragon Ether Beryl.
- Primite Dragon Ether Beryl ① effect, Set Primite Drillbeam from deck to Spell & Trap Zone.
- Primite Lordly Lode ③ effect, declare and Special Summon Dark Magician from deck.
- Dark Magician → Imduk the World Chalice Dragon.
- Imduk the World Chalice Dragon + Primite Dragon Ether Beryl → Hieratic Seal of the Heavenly Spheres.
During opponent’s turn,
- Hieratic Seal of the Heavenly Spheres ① effect, tribute itself as cost, return 1 face-up card on the field to hand.
- Hieratic Seal of the Heavenly Spheres ② effect, Special Summon Dragon Tail Mulr from deck.
- Dragon Tail Mulr ① effect, Dragon Tail Mulr (on field) + Monster Card (in hand) → Dragon Tail Altharion.
- Chain 2: Dragon Tail Mulr ② effect, Set Rahu Dragon Tail from deck to Spell & Trap Zone, then negate the effects of 1 face-up monster your opponent controls.
- Chain 1: Dragon Tail Altharion ① effect, add Dark Magician from graveyard to hand.
Dark Magician is a Normal Monster that could be used for the Primite package in Dragon Tail. After retrieving Dark Magician from the graveyard with Dragon Tail Altharion ① effect, Dark Magician could be revealed as cost to activate Primite Drillbeam, and later used as Fusion Material to Fusion Summon Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon.
Shinichi@ (しんいち@) went 6-0 and finished 2nd in “Yu-Gi-Oh! 3×3 Japan Championship 2025 Tokyo 1st Qualifier” which had 128 teams (384 participants).
Blue-Eyes White Dragon is another Normal Monster that could be used for the Primite package in Dragon Tail. Blue-Eyes White Dragon is a Dragon Monster, so it could be used to Link Summon Hieratic Seal of the Heavenly Spheres without having to Link Summon Imduk the World Chalice Dragon first. This plays better under Maxx “C” and Mulcharmy Fuwalos as it gives the opponent 1 less draw. Blue-Eyes White Dragon could also be Special Summoned with Spirit with Eyes of Blue ③ effect for a bit of extra damage output when needed.
Koa’ki Meiru Drago is also an option to bring out with Hieratic Seal of the Heavenly Spheres ② effect against Yummy and Maliss, and is an effective lock after the opponent has used their Normal Summon.
Dijiang (帝江) went 11-1 and finished 1 – 4th in “Yu-Gi-Oh! China Mainland WCQ 2025 Guangzhou” which had 560 participants.
Yummy
Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon is one of the strategy that Dragon Tail uses against Yummy. Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon cannot be targeted by card effects, making it immune to most of Yummy removal. After Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon ③ effect negates the activation of a card or effect, destroys that card, and gains 1000 ATK, it becomes an ATK 4000 monster which is difficult for Yummy to surpass even with the ATK boost from Yummysment☆Minion.
Hence some Yummy builds would run Underworld Goddess of the Closed World in the Extra Deck as an out to the opponent’s Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon.
Number 2: Ninja Shadow Mosquito is another way that Yummy could go for game while facing Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon. Both options for Number 2: Ninja Shadow Mosquito ③ effect are non-targeting effects and could be applied on Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon.
A possible scenario with Cupsie☆Yummy, Mulcharmy Fuwalos and a Card is as follow:
- Normal Summon Mulcharmy Fuwalos.
- Mulcharmy Fuwalos → Salamangreat Almiraj.
- Special Summon Cupsie☆Yummy.
- Cupsie☆Yummy ① effect, add Yummy☆Surprise from deck to hand.
- Cupsie☆Yummy → Yummy★Snatchy.
- Chain 3: Salamangreat Almiraj ① effect, tribute itself as cost, make Yummy★Snatchy cannot be destroyed by your opponent’s card effects this turn.
- Chain 2: Opponent’s Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon ③ effect, discard 1 Card as cost, negate the activation of Yummy★Snatchy ① effect.
- Chain 1: Yummy★Snatchy ① effect, negated.
- Activate Yummy☆Surprise ① effect, Special Summon Cupsie☆Yummy from graveyard.
- Yummy★Snatchy + Cupsie☆Yummy → Cupsie★Yummy Way.
- Cupsie★Yummy Way ① effect, add Cooky☆Yummy and Lollipo☆Yummy from deck to hand, discard 1 Card.
- Special Summon Cooky☆Yummy from hand.
- Special Summon Lollipo☆Yummy from hand.
- Cooky☆Yummy → Linkuriboh.
- Linkuriboh + Lollipo☆Yummy → Lollipo★Yummy Way.
- Lollipo★Yummy Way ① effect, Special Summon Cooky☆Yummy and Lollipo☆Yummy from graveyard.
- Cupsie★Yummy Way + Lollipo★Yummy Way → Number 2: Ninja Shadow Mosquito.
- During Battle Phase, attack with Number 2: Ninja Shadow Mosquito.
- Number 2: Ninja Shadow Mosquito ③ effect, place 1 Hallucination Counter on opponent’s Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon.
- Attack with Lollipo☆Yummy.
- Number 2: Ninja Shadow Mosquito ③ effect, Inflict 3000 damage to opponent.
- Linkuriboh ② effect, tribute Lollipo☆Yummy as cost, Special Summon itself from graveyard.
- Attack with Cooky☆Yummy.
- Number 2: Ninja Shadow Mosquito ③ effect, Inflict 3000 damage to opponent.
- Take 2000 battle damage, and Cooky☆Yummy is destroyed by battle.
- Attack with Linkuriboh.
- Number 2: Ninja Shadow Mosquito ③ effect, Inflict 3000 damage to opponent.
Yummysment☆Minion ① effect provides an ATK boost, and its ② effect is an extender in the form of Special Summoning a Level 1 Yummy monster from graveyard, so opponent would try to negate Yummy★Snatchy ① effect and prevent Yummysment☆Minion from hitting the field. Once Yummysment☆Minion hits the field, it is possible for Yummy to amass enough Yummy monsters on the field that they could attack over an ATK 3000 Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon.
Ghost Reaper & Winter Cherries is becoming a popular tech choice when going second against Yummy to banish all copies of Yummy★Snatchy from the opponent’s Extra Deck. Yummy combo is quite resilient to ‘hand traps’, so taking away their Yummy★Snatchy might be the more practical solution.
Paisley Park (佩斯利公园) went 10-2 and finished 1 – 4th in “Yu-Gi-Oh! China Mainland WCQ 2025 Guangzhou” which had 560 participants.
Maliss
Dimensional Fissure is being played in the Side Deck against Dragon Tail and Yummy.
However, Dragon Tail could chain with Dragon Tail Fymena when Dimensional Fissure is activated, and if Dragon Tail Urgula was used as Fusion Material, then its ① effect would be able to destroy Dimensional Fissure. Other Dragon Tail monster used as Fusion Material would also be able to use their graveyard effect to Set Dragon Tail Flame from deck, then Dragon Tail Flame could be activated during the next turn to negate Dimensional Fissure effect.
Dinowrestler Pankratops in the Side Deck is also an out to Dimensional Fissure.
Kuro (クロ) went 5-1 and finished 3rd in “Yu-Gi-Oh! 3×3 Japan Championship 2025 Tokyo 1st Qualifier” which had 128 teams (384 participants).
Conclusion
It is a delight to have the destined rivals Dark Magician and Blue-Eyes White Dragon see competitive play in 2025, though as a small supporting role for Primite Dragon Tail.
The WCQ season rages on with four major tournaments taking place in the upcoming weekend.

evil twin list?
The picture quality isn’t great, but it’s in Beyond the Memories Baige Shop Ranking Tournament at the bottom of the list.
Does anybody know why some dragontails are running k9 engine in the Sideboard?
