Ryzeal

Running Number C102: Archfiend Seraph in the Extra Deck allows Seventh Tachyon to access Artifact Lancea and Artifact Scythe.

Maliss is now a top contender right behind Ryzeal, making Artifact Lancea a necessity in the Side Deck. Artifact Lancea could also be used to counter Evenly Matched.

Searching for Artifact Scythe is a way to play around the opponent’s Maxx “C”, Mulcharmy Fuwalos and Mulcharmy Purulia. By Xyz Summoning Tornado Dragon with a Set Artifact Scythe in the Spell/Trap Zone gives the opponent the minimal amount of draws. During the opponent’s turn, Tornado Dragon effect would destroy your Set Artifact Scythe, and trigger its ② effect to Special Summon itself from the graveyard. Artifact Scythe ③ effect would then activate on summon, making the opponent be unable to Special Summon monsters from the Extra Deck for the turn, effectively shutting down their plays.

However, Artifact Scythe runs the risk of being stopped in the current metagame as many decks are already running outs to it in the Main Deck. Ryzeal has Forbidden Droplet which could negate Artifact Scythe ③ effect, and Maliss has Bystial monsters which could banish Artifact Scythe from the graveyard to stop its Special Summon.

Ryzeal Deadnader could also be used instead of Tornado Dragon to destroy your own Artifact Scythe, but Ryzeal Deadnader ② effect cannot be activated pre-emptively to play around Ultimate Slayer. There are pros and cons to using Ryzeal Deadnader or Tornado Dragon, and the choice would depend on reading the opponent’s tech choice and determine if it is necessary to play around Ultimate Slayer.

Lecon (れこん) went 7-1 and finished 1st in “8th Tierra Cup -Void Seer Arc- Individual Tournament” which had 45 participants.

Maliss

Haggard Lizardose is a new card from World Premiere Pack 2024 which is a great boost to Maliss. Haggard Lizardose effect could banish your own Maliss monster from the graveyard, which in turn would trigger the Maliss monster’s effect.

  1. Normal Summon Maliss
White Rabbit.
  2. Maliss
White Rabbit ① effect, Set Maliss <C> TB-11 from deck to Spell/Trap Zone.
  3. Activate Maliss <C> TB-11, banish Maliss
White Rabbit as cost, Special Summon Maliss
Dormouse from deck.
  4. Maliss
White Rabbit ③ effect, pay 300 LP as cost, Special Summon itself from banished.
  5. Maliss
Dormouse + Maliss
White RabbitHaggard Lizardose.
  6. Haggard Lizardose ① effect, banish Maliss
Dormouse from graveyard as cost, make Haggard Lizardose ATK become equal to the original ATK of the monster banished.
  7. Maliss
Dormouse ③ effect, pay 300 LP as cost, Special Summon itself from banished.

Previously without Haggard Lizardose, the above had to be accomplished using Maliss
Dormouse to Link Summon Linguriboh, and then using Linguriboh and Maliss
White Rabbit to Link Summon S:P Little Knight, whose ① effect would then banish Maliss
Dormouse from the graveyard. S:P Little Knight ① effect comes with a drawback that makes your monsters cannot attack directly this turn, Haggard Lizardose is better when going second as it still allows for an One-Turn-Kill while developing your combo.

Banishing 1 monster from your face-up field or GY with 2000 or less ATK is a cost to activate Haggard Lizardose ① effect, which means that banishing the Maliss monster cannot be stopped by using Effect Veiler or Infinite Impermanence to negate Haggard Lizardose. Whereas S:P Little Knight ① effect to banish could be stopped by Effect Veiler or Infinite Impermanence if there are no other monsters on the field for S:P Little Knight to dodge with its ② effect.

Ferocious Tiger descends from the Mountain (猛虎下山) went 8-1 and finished 3 – 4th in “Liuwuzhimen Card Shop Ranking Tournament” which had 104 participants.

Conclusion

Ryzeal and Maliss are the decks to beat in the early OCG 2024.10 format. Ryzeal takes a dominating lead in the top spot, having 3 times the tops of Maliss coming in the second spot.

Can’t wait for Ryzeal to be beaten by the banlist, I’m so sick of this kind of toxic T0 decks

The OCG always looks like this. It’s because Konami always hits stuff too much in the ocg so the newer stuff is always way stronger than what’s left. Konami in the ocg sucks at bring stuff back off the banlist fast enough to compete. They also tend to hit decks that are already on the way out which only further pushes up the new stuff

  3. Travis says:

Konami is so corny man. Every deck needs ateast 15 handtraps now because everything is 1 card combos. 😅 I would go insane if I played this game competitively

  9. Keknami says:

Trash format like always. Failing to design fair cards leads the game to be a comparing staples competition with decks that can fill half of its list with handtraps and staples dominating the meta.
