Fire King

A minor change made was the additional of D.D. Crow to the Side Deck, mainly as a tech against Voiceless Voice.

When the opponent activates Trias Hierarchia effect and tributes Diviner of the Herald as cost, D.D. Crow could be chained to target Diviner of the Herald in the opponent’s graveyard. Resolving the Chain, Diviner of the Herald is banished from the graveyard, and Trias Hierarchia is Special Summoned. Diviner of the Herald effect would have activate in the graveyard, but because it has since moved to banished, its effect cannot be activated in the new Chain.

This game mechanic is detailed in the Master Rule (1 April 2020 Revision) under 効果の発動前に、発動する場所に存在しなくなったカードの効果の発動について which states that “If a card moves location from its activation location to a different location before its effect is activated, its effect cannot be activated (including mandatory effects)”.

D.D. Crow could also be used to banish Lo, the Prayers of the Voiceless Voice to stop its Special Summon from the graveyard, banish Saffira, Dragon Queen of the Voiceless Voice, Prayers of the Voiceless Voice to prevent their graveyard effect from being used, or banish the Ritual Monster targeted by Dyna Mondo effect.

Raito (ライト) went 6-1 (excluding 1 bye) and finished 1st in “7th Taiyo CS Trio” which had 34 teams (102 participants).

Voiceless Voice

Legacy of Destruction comes with 2 new support cards for Voiceless Voice, but mainly Blessing of the Voiceless Voice is seeing play in the competitive scene. Blessing of the Voiceless Voice is a new Continuous Spell Card that could be brought out by Lo, the Prayers of the Voiceless Voice.

Blessing of the Voiceless Voice ① effect adds a “Voiceless Voice” card in graveyard or banished to hand, providing much needed recursion to the theme. It could recycle Saffira, Dragon Queen of the Voiceless Voice or Prayers of the Voiceless Voice that were banished to activate their graveyard effects, or salvage Radiance of the Voiceless Voice that is played as a one-of.

Blessing of the Voiceless Voice ② effect enables the player to perform a Ritual Summon when a non-Ritual Monster(s) is Normal or Special Summoned face-up. This could be used during the opponent’s turn to Ritual Summon 1 LIGHT Warrior or Dragon Ritual Monster to add a disruption. When the LIGHT Warrior or Dragon Ritual Monster is Special Summoned, it would also trigger Lo, the Prayers of the Voiceless Voice effect to Special Summon itself on the opponent’s turn. Then Lo, the Prayers of the Voiceless Voice effect could be activated to place 1 “Voiceless Voice” Continuous Spell/Trap from your Deck face-up in your Spell & Trap Zone.

Running 1 Secure Gardna in the Extra Deck is also a consideration as it could be used to trigger Blessing of the Voiceless Voice ② effect to perform a Ritual Summon. A possible scenario is as follow, opening with Lo, the Prayers of the Voiceless Voice and Skull Guardian, Protector of the Voiceless Voice in hand:

  1. Normal Summon Lo, the Prayers of the Voiceless Voice.
  2. Lo, the Prayers of the Voiceless Voice ① effect, place Blessing of the Voiceless Voice from Deck face-up in Spell & Trap Zone.
  3. Lo, the Prayers of the Voiceless VoiceLinkuriboh.
  4. Blessing of the Voiceless Voice ① effect, add Lo, the Prayers of the Voiceless Voice from graveyard to hand.
  5. LinkuribohSecure Gardna.
  6. Blessing of the Voiceless Voice ② effect, Ritual Summon Skull Guardian, Protector of the Voiceless Voice by tributing Lo, the Prayers of the Voiceless Voice from hand.
  7. Chain 2: Lo, the Prayers of the Voiceless Voice ③ effect, Special Summon itself from graveyard.
  8. Chain 1: Skull Guardian, Protector of the Voiceless Voice ① effect, add Saffira, Dragon Queen of the Voiceless Voice from deck to hand.
  9. Saffira, Dragon Queen of the Voiceless Voice ① effect, discard itself as cost, send Prayers of the Voiceless Voice from deck to graveyard, then add Sauravis, the Ancient and Ascended from deck to hand.
  10. During the opponent’s turn, when the opponent Normal or Special Summoned a non-Ritual Monster(s), Blessing of the Voiceless Voice ② effect, Ritual Summon Sauravis, the Ancient and Ascended by tributing Lo, the Prayers of the Voiceless Voice from field.
  11. Lo, the Prayers of the Voiceless Voice ③ effect, Special Summon itself from graveyard.
  12. Lo, the Prayers of the Voiceless Voice ① effect, place Radiance of the Voiceless Voice from Deck face-up in Spell & Trap Zone.

Bystial Magnamhut and Bystial Druiswurm in the Side Deck plays a similar function as D.D. Crow in the Voiceless Voice mirror match. However, if Trias Hierarchia tributes Diviner of the Herald as cost and the opponent has no monsters on field, then Bystial Magnamhut and Bystial Druiswurm cannot be activated as Quick Effect to banish Diviner of the Herald in the same Chain.

Raito (ライト) went 6-2 and finished 1st in “165th Next Play Cup” which had 36 participants.

Conclusion

The release of Legacy of Destruction saw a huge interest spike in Voiceless Voice. Raito played Sinful Spoils Snake-Eye Fire King on Sunday, but switched to Voiceless Voice on Wednesday. He explained in a reply under his tweet (@rai_10y) that he thinks Sinful Spoils Snake-Eye Fire King is still a stronger deck than Voiceless Voice. He is just trying out Voiceless Voice to familiarize himself with the game play, and would pick Sinful Spoils Snake-Eye Fire King if he is seeking to win the tournament.

Chimera has a boost with Nightmare Apprentice. Melodious and Tenpai Dragon are seeing experimentation among some players. Ragnaraika could be splashed as a small package in Sunavalon Rikka and Traptrix. Infernal Grave Squirmer and Nightmare Throne are a boost to Yubel, and are also being splashed with Dark Beckoning Beast and Unchained as an experimental Fiend Link deck.
