Rescue-ACE

genhuukei went 9-1 and finished 1st in “3rd 1923 Grand CS” which had 94 participants.

Many decks are running Selene, Queen of the Master Magicians in the Extra Deck as a way to Link Climb from the Charmer Link Monsters to Accesscode Talker. Hiita the Fire Charmer, Ablaze effect could be used to Special Summon Rescue-ACE monsters or Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring from the opponent’s graveyard, while Dharc the Dark Charmer, Gloomy effect could be used to Special Summon Diabellstar the Black Witch from the opponent’s graveyard. They would then be used to Link Summon Selene, Queen of the Master Magicians, whose effect would be able to Special Summon Diabellstar the Black Witch or Effect Veiler from your graveyard, and they could finally be used to Link Summon Accesscode Talker.

Tearlaments

Daiki went 5-1 and finished 2nd in “2nd YTC Qualifier September TCGshop193 Osu Shop” which had 57 participants.

He ran 3 Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit in the Side Deck against Centur-Ion. When Centur-Ion Primera, Centur-Ion Trudea, Centur-Ion Emeth VI are treated as a Continuous Trap and activate their effects, Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit could be activated in a chain to destroy them and stop their Special Summon. If the opponent activates the Stand-Up Centur-Ion! effect while having no Centur-Ion monsters on their field, then Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit could be activated in a chain to destroy it and cause its effect to not resolve. When Crimson Dragon ② effect is activated, Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit could also activated in a chain to destroy it, and since Crimson Dragon could not return itself to the Extra Deck, it would not Special Summon 1 Dragon Synchro Monster from the Extra Deck.

The 2 Super Polymerization in the Side Deck could also be used against Centur-Ion. Centur-Ion Legatia and Crimson Dragon are both LIGHT Attribute but Machine Type and Dragon Type respectively, allowing Super Polymerization to use them to Fusion Summon Mudragon of the Swamp.

Purrely

Ryu (リュウ) went 6-1 (excluding 1 bye) and finished 2nd in “148th Next Play Cup” which had 36 participants.

He ran 2 Unending Nightmare in the Side Deck against Centur-Ion. Unending Nightmare effect could be used to destroy Centur-Ion monsters treated as a Continuous Trap, and destroy Stand-Up Centur-Ion! if the opponent has no Centur-Ion monsters on their field.

Bystial monsters and D.D. Crow could also be used against Centur-Ion. During the opponent’s End Phase, Bystial monster or D.D. Crow effect could be used to banish Centur-Ion Primera from opponent’s graveyard, causing Centur-Ion Legatia ③ effect to be unable to place Centur-Ion Primera from graveyard as a Continuous Trap on field. If the opponent do not have another Centur-Ion Primera in hand that they could place as a Continuous Trap on field, then they would have no Tuner Monster to Synchro Summon Crimson Dragon during your turn.

Centur-Ion

A.O. went 7-1 and finished 1st in “13th Komachi CS Individual Tournament” which had 42 participants.

Centur-Ion had a lukewarm performance on their debut, having only 1 top in Week #9. Their performance improved significantly with 7 tops in Week #10.

Centur-Ion is a new theme from Deck Build Pack: Valiant Smashers that could easily make Level 12 Synchro Monster. They could Synchro Summon Centur-Ion Legatia on their turn, and then Synchro Summon Crimson Dragon during the opponent’s turn via Stand-Up Centur-Ion! effect. Crimson Dragon effect would then target Centur-Ion Legatia, and return itself to the Extra Deck to Special Summon Hot Red Dragon Archfiend King Calamity from the Extra Deck. Hot Red Dragon Archfiend King Calamity effect would then make the opponent be unable to activate effects that activates on the field for this turn.

Centurian could be played with a Horus package. The Horus monsters are Level 8 and could be used with Centur-Ion Primera to make Level 12 Synchro Monster. The Horus Monsters themselves could also be used to make Rank 8 Xyz Monsters such as Number 90: Galaxy-Eyes Photon Lord to protect the Centur-Ion combo.

Conclusion

Rescue-ACE, Tearlaments and Purrely continues to hold onto the Top 3 for this two weeks.

Deck Build Pack: Valiant Smashers has some impact on the metagame with Centur-Ion entering the competitive scene. Centur-Ion has one of the strongest end board, using Crimson Dragon to bring out a variety of powerful Level 12 Synchro Monsters. However, the Centur-Ion combo is vulnerable to disruptions, and we would have to see if they could still perform in the following weeks when the metagame is better prepared against them.
