Welcome to Week #9, #10 of the OCG 2023.10 format.

This report will tabulate 180 top-performing decks from 36 tournaments that were held in Japan, China Mainland, Philippines and South Korea during 25 November – 7 December 2023.

Fire King

Pitknight Earlie is an option that some Fire King builds have adopted as additional disruption. Pitknight Earlie is Link Summoned early in the combo to be destroyed by Fire King Island effect to add Sacred Fire King Garunix from deck to hand. Then during the End Phase, Pitknight Earlie effect would Special Summon itself from the graveyard, to a Main Monster Zone such that its Link Arrow(s) would be pointing at either Decode Talker Heatsoul or Snake-Eyes Flamberge Dragon. Then by activating Decode Talker Heatsoul effect to draw 1 card or activating Snake-Eyes Flamberge Dragon effect to Special Summon I:P Masquerena from the Spell/Trap Zone would enable Pitknight Earlie effect to be activated and negate the effect of an opponent’s monster.

Dongguan Feimao @ Mopaoshu (东莞肥猫@魔泡塾) went 10-0-2 and finished 1st in “CCT Guilin 2023” which had 278 participants.

Rescue-ACE

Daikon (だいこん) went 7-0 (excluding 1 bye) and finished 1st in “35th Hagetaka CS” which had 36 participants.

In anticipation against Infernoid and Ritual Beast, he has prepared Artifact Lancea in the Side Deck to shut down their play. Artifact Dagda effect would set Artifact Lancea from deck in the Spell/Trap Zone. Then during the opponent’s turn, I:P Masquerena effect would Link Summon Sky Striker Ace – Azalea whose effect would destroy Artifact Lancea in the Spell/Trap Zone. Artifact Lancea effect would Special Summon itself from the graveyard, and then its effect could be activated by tributing itself to make both players be unable to banish cards this turn.

Branded

Liutianjiang (流天酱) went 6-2-1 and finished 9 – 16th in “CCT Guilin 2023” which had 278 participants.

As written in his tournament report (流天酱桂林站巡回赛战报), during the tournament he was matched against 5 Fire King out of the 9 rounds he played, but won only 3 of them. He mentioned that Branded has difficulty going second against Fire King, and the games that he won are mostly due to That Grass Looks Greener resolving successfully. He had also underrated Soul Release and regretted not running 2 copies in the Side Deck.

Voiceless Voice

Odd-Eyes Pendulumgraph Dragon is a LIGHT Dragon Ritual Monster that could be searched out with Saffira, Dragon Queen of the Voiceless Voice, and Ritual Summoned using Prayers of the Voiceless Voice. However Odd-Eyes Pendulumgraph Dragon must be either Ritual Summoned, or Pendulum Summoned from your hand, preventing it from being Special Summoned by Sauravis, Dragon Sage of the Voiceless Voice effect.

Odd-Eyes Pendulumgraph Dragon effect could negate a Spell card or effect, then it could Special Summon an “Odd-Eyes” monster from the Extra Deck. Running Odd-Eyes Wing Dragon in the Extra Deck for Odd-Eyes Pendulumgraph Dragon is an option as it comes with an Ignition Effect to negate the effect of an opponent’s monster.

Kim Joo-Hoon (김주훈) went 6-1 and finished 2nd in “MSCS with HSCS 3v3 Team Tournament” which had 20 teams (60 participants).

Conclusion

Terminal World had minimal initial impact on the metagame, and did little against the top contenders Fire King and Rescue-ACE. Infernoid, Ritual Beast and Ice Barrier have put out some decent performance, but not in significant numbers.

Nakayoshi (ナカヨシ) went 7-0 (excluding 1 bye) with Grass Horus Sinful Spoils Snake-Eye Infernoid (deck list) and finished 1st in “27th Lotus Cup Individual Tournament” which had 53 participants.

Katyakatya (カチャカチャ) went 6-2 with Ritual Beast (deck list) and finished 2nd in “242nd Taiyo CS” which had 36 participants.

Bakutaro (ばくたろ) went 6-2 with Ice Barrier (deck list) and finished 2nd in “160th Next Play Cup” which had 36 participants.
