Rescue-ACE

Albert Wijaya went 7-2 and finished 3 – 4th in “Duelist Cup 2023 Indonesia” which had 120 participants.

Rescue-ACE could easily disable the opponent’s Expurrely Noir using Rescue-ACE Impulse. As written in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Card Database (R-ACEインパルス Q&A), Rescue-ACE Impulse ① effect is an effect that is applied to both players. Thus even if a monster that is unaffected by effects is selected, that monster’s effects on the field cannot be activated this turn. The opponent could respond with Expurrely Noir effect by targeting Rescue-ACE Impulse, but Rescue-ACE Impulse ② effect could be activated in a Chain and tribute itself as cost to Special Summon 1 Machine “Rescue-ACE” monster from your Deck.

The core of Rescue-ACE’s disruption comes from using Rescue-ACE Turbulence effect to Set up to 4 “Rescue-ACE” Quick-Play Spells / Normal Traps from deck to field. As such, the opponent would use Effect Veiler or Infinite Impermanence to negate Rescue-ACE Turbulence effect. Rescue-ACE could first Special Summon Proxy F Magician and use its effect to Fusion Summon Mudragon of the Swamp. Before Special Summoning Rescue-ACE Turbulence, activate Mudragon of the Swamp effect to change itself to FIRE Attribute, making FIRE Attribute monsters cannot be targeted by Effect Veiler or Infinite Impermanence.

Purrely

Tsui Cheng Hao went 7-1 and finished 2nd in “Duelist Cup 2023 Taiwan” which had 59 participants.

Grapha, Dragon Lord of Dark World, Cosmic Cyclone and Evenly Matched in the Side Deck are removal for the opponent’s Continuous Traps in the Runick match-up. Evenly Matched could also be used against Rescue-ACE, as Rescue-ACE effects interacts only with Monsters, making them vulnerable to Spell/Trap removals.

Runick

Cengceng Xiaoqiu (蹭蹭小酋) went 10-3 and finished 3 – 4th in “China City Tournament Guangzhou 2023” which had 562 participants.

2 Dimension Shifter and 7 Continuous Traps in the Main Deck has become the standard build for Runick. There Can Be Only One and Gozen Match are the key tech against the current metagame, but Rivalry of Warlords is still necessary at least in the Side Deck. In “Duelist Cup 2023 Singapore”, Control Runick has the highest count in the top cut with 5 of them in the Top 32. However, Vanquish Soul took down two Runicks along the way to become the eventual champion. There Can Be Only One has no effect against Vanquish Soul, resulting in Runick being unable to setup control.

Branded

A.No went 7-2 and finished 3rd in “1923CS with Next Play” which had 104 participants.

Fusion Duplication in the Side Deck is an option that could be searched out by Triple Tactics Thrust. If the opponent used Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring on your Branded Fusion, then Triple Tactics Thrust could be used to set Fusion Duplication from deck to field. During the opponent’s turn, Fusion Duplication could be activated to banish and copy Branded Fusion effect.

Mathmech

Kyororo (きょろろ) finished 1st in “22nd Lotus Cup” (3v3 Team) which had 33 teams (99 pariticpants).

He ran 1 Firewall Dragon Singularity in the Extra Deck. When opening with Mathmech Circular and an extender such as Mathmech Addition or Mathmech Subtraction in hand, Firewall Dragon Singularity could be Link Summoned to provide an additional disruption.

The standard Mathmech Circular opening combo would lead to Primathmech Alembertian, Transcode Talker, Splash Mage and Link Decoder on the field. Transcode Talker, Splash Mage and Link Decoder would be used to Link Summon Firewall Dragon Singularity. Mathmech Addition or Mathmech Subtraction could be Special Summoned from hand in the Main Monster Zone below Firewall Dragon Singularity. Primathmech Alembertian effect would tribute Mathmech Addition or Mathmech Subtraction to Special Summon Mathmech Circular from the graveyard. Since a monster that Firewall Dragon Singularity points to is sent to the graveyard, its Trigger Effect could be activated to Special Summon Transcode Talker from the graveyard. Transcode Talker, Primathmech Alembertian and Mathmech Circular would then be used to Link Summon Firewall Dragon Darkfluid – Neo Tempest Terahertz.

Conclusion

Week #9, #10 had 5 more Duelist Cup 2023 tournaments, and brings us to the end of the the World Championship 2023 qualifiers in Asia. Up next will be the “Duelist Cup 2023 China Mainland Finals” and “Duelist Cup 2023 Asia Finals” which will decide the representatives going to the World Championship 2023.

The metagame has become diverse. Rescue-ACE, Purrely, Runick, Branded, Mathmech, Adamancipator and Tearlaments are in the lead but the difference between them are just a count or two apart.

Amazing how quiet the infernobles d*ck raiders are where did the “best deck of the format”, “the next tier 1 deck” go?? its almost like the new support solves absolutely nothing for the deck you still surrender going 2nd or to a floodgate. 1-2 TOPS BTW after multiple tournaments and zero tops in the WCQ tournaments. where did the Isolde complainers go to now? “the most broken link in the game” can’t top a single tournament why is that? I guess I wasn’t an Idiot for calling this support overhyped.
