ABC Hornet Drones Combo

The previous Sky Striker Mecha – Hornet Drones article gave a brief introduction on how the Sky Striker engine has provided ABC with a quick way to go into Crystron Halqifibrax and then Summon Sorceress to setup their board.

This article will showcase 3 different combos of some basic ABC standard openings.

1. Activate Sky Striker Mecha – Hornet Drones, Special Summon “Sky Striker Ace Token”.
2. Using “Sky Striker Ace Token”, Link Summon Sky Striker Ace – Kagari.
3. When Sky Striker Ace – Kagari is successfully summoned, trigger its effect to add Sky Striker Mecha – Hornet Drones from Graveyard to Hand.
4. Normal Summon Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring.
5. Using Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring + Sky Striker Ace – Kagari, Link Summon Crystron Halqifibrax.
6. When Crystron Halqifibrax is successfully summoned, trigger its effect and Special Summon Mecha Phantom Beast O-Lion.
7. Using Crystron Halqifibrax + Mecha Phantom Beast O-Lion, Link Summon Summon Sorceress in the Right Extra Monster Zone.
8. When Summon Sorceress is successfully summoned, trigger the effect of Mecha Phantom Beast O-Lion, and then activate Sky Striker Mecha – Hornet Drones in a Chain.
   Chain 2: Resolve Sky Striker Mecha – Hornet Drones‘s effect, Special Summon “Sky Striker Ace Token” in the 1st Main Monster Zone.
9. Chain 1: Resolve Mecha Phantom Beast O-Lion‘s effect, Special Summon “Mecha Phantom Beast Token” to the 5th Main Monster Zone.
10. Activate the effect of Summon Sorceress, target “Mecha Phantom Beast Token” to Special Summon B-Buster Drake from Deck to 3rd Main Monster Zone.

 

11. Using B-Buster Drake + Mecha Phantom Beast Token, Link Summon Knightmare Phoenix in the 3rd Main Monster Zone.
12. When Knightmare Phoenix is successfully summoned, trigger the effect of B-Buster Drake, add A-Assault Core from Deck to Hand.
13. Using Summon Sorceress + “Sky Striker Ace Token”, Link Summon Firewall Dragon in the 4th Main Monster Zone.
14. Activate the effect of Firewall Dragon, target and add B-Buster Drake from Graveyard to Hand.
15. Using Knightmare Phoenix, Link Summon Knightmare Mermaid in the Right Extra Monster Zone.
16. As Knightmare Phoenix that Firewall Dragon was pointing to was sent to the graveyard, trigger the effect of Firewall Dragon, and Special Summon B-Buster Drake from hand to the 3rd Main Monster Zone.
17. Using B-Buster Drake + Knightmare Mermaid, Link Summon Security Dragon in the Right Extra Monster Zone.
18. As B-Buster Drake that Firewall Dragon was pointing to was sent to the graveyard, trigger the effect of both Firewall Dragon and B-Buster Drake, forming a Chain.
    Chain 2: Resolve B-Buster Drake‘s effect, add B-Buster Drake from Deck to Hand.
19. Chain 1: Resolve Firewall Dragon‘s effect, Special Summon A-Assault Core to the 3rd Main Monster Zone.

 

20. Using A-Assault Core + Security Dragon, Link Summon Knightmare Unicorn in the 3rd Main Monster Zone.
21. As A-Assault Core that Firewall Dragon was pointing to was sent to the graveyard, trigger the effect of both Firewall Dragon and A-Assault Core, forming a Chain.
    Chain 2: Resolve A-Assault Core‘s effect, add B-Buster Drake from Graveyard to Hand.
22. Chain 1: Resolve Firewall Dragon‘s effect, Special Summon B-Buster Drake to the 5th Main Monster Zone.
23. Using B-Buster Drake + Knightmare Unicorn, Link Summon Knightmare Gryphon in the 3rd Main Monster Zone.
24. As B-Buster Drake that Firewall Dragon was pointing to was sent to the graveyard, trigger the effect of both Firewall Dragon and B-Buster Drake, forming a Chain.
    Chain 2: Resolve B-Buster Drake‘s effect, add C-Crush Wyvern from Graveyard to Hand.
25. Chain 1: Resolve Firewall Dragon‘s effect, Special Summon C-Crush Wyvern to the 5th Main Monster Zone.
26. Using C-Crush Wyvern + Firewall Dragon, Link Summon Knightmare Goblin in the 4th Main Monster Zone.
27. When Knightmare Goblin is successfully summoned, trigger the effect of C-Crush Wyvern, Special Summon B-Buster Drake from Hand to the 2nd Main Monster Zone.
28. Banish A-Assault Core + B-Buster Drake + C-Crush Wyvern from the Graveyard, Special Summon ABC-Dragon Buster in the 5th Main Monster Zone.
29. Activate the effect of B-Buster Drake, equip it to ABC-Dragon Buster.

 

Knightmare Gryphon will prevent Special Summoned Monsters from activating their effects unless they are linked, while Knightmare Goblin will protect itself and Gryphon from being targeted by card effects.

ABC-Dragon Buster has a B-Buster Drake equipped, making it immune to the opponent’s Spell effect.

This setup is mainly used against Sky Striker, as Sky Striker Maneuver – Afterburners! and Sky Striker Mecha – Widow Anchor cannot target Knightmare Gryphon or Knightmare Goblin, and they have no effect on ABC-Dragon Buster while B-Buster Drake is equipped.

An alternative is to Link Summon Knightmare Cerberus instead of Knightmare Goblin in Step 26. That would protect Gryphon from being destroyed by card effects.

11. Using B-Buster Drake + Mecha Phantom Beast Token, Link Summon Knightmare Goblin in the 3rd Main Monster Zone.
12. When Knightmare Goblin is successfully summoned, trigger the effect of B-Buster Drake, add A-Assault Core from Deck to Hand.
13. Using Summon Sorceress + “Sky Striker Ace Token”, Link Summon Firewall Dragon in the 4th Main Monster Zone.
14. Using Knightmare Goblin, Link Summon Knightmare Mermaid in the Right Extra Monster Zone.

    Chain 2: Resolve B-Buster Drake‘s effect, add C-Crush Wyvern from Deck to Hand.
21. Chain 1: Resolve Firewall Dragon‘s effect, Special Summon C-Crush Wyvern to the 5th Main Monster Zone.
22. Using C-Crush Wyvern + Knightmare Unicorn, Link Summon Knightmare Gryphon in the 3rd Main Monster Zone.
23. Banish A-Assault Core + B-Buster Drake + C-Crush Wyvern from the Graveyard, Special Summon ABC-Dragon Buster in the Right Extra Monster Zone.

 

To activate the Trigger Effect of Firewall Dragon, a Monster Card has to be already in hand when building the Chain. Hence the purpose of Maxx “C” in this example. Effectively, this combo only use up 2 cards as Maxx “C” remained in hand throughout the combo.

Since the Quick Effect of Firewall Dragon was conserved, Firewall Dragon itself becomes an additional threat along with Knightmare Gryphon and ABC-Dragon Buster.

9. Chain 2: Resolve B-Buster Drake‘s effect, add A-Assault Core from Deck to Hand.
10. Chain 1: Resolve Crystron Halqifibrax‘s effect, Special Summon Glow-Up Bulb in the 5th Main Monster Zone.
11. Using “Sky Striker Ace Token”, Link Summon Sky Striker Ace – Shizuku in the 3rd Main Monster Zone.
12. Using Crystron Halqifibrax + Sky Striker Ace – Shizuku, Link Summon Summon Sorceress in the Right Extra Monster Zone.
13. Activate the effect of Summon Sorceress, target Glow-Up Bulb to Special Summon Dandylion from Deck to 3rd Main Monster Zone.

 

14. Using Glow-Up Bulb + Dandylion, Link Summon Knightmare Phoenix in the 3rd Main Monster Zone.
15. When Knightmare Phoenix is successfully summoned, trigger the effect of Dandylion, Special Summon 2 “Fluff Tokens” to the 1st and 2nd Main Monster Zone.
16. Using Summon Sorceress + “Fluff Token”, Link Summon Firewall Dragon in the 4th Main Monster Zone.
17. Using Knightmare Phoenix, Link Summon Knightmare Mermaid in the Right Extra Monster Zone.
18. As Knightmare Phoenix that Firewall Dragon was pointing to was sent to the graveyard, trigger the effect of Firewall Dragon, and Special Summon A-Assault Core from hand to the 3rd Main Monster Zone.
19. Using A-Assault Core + “Fluff Token”, Link Summon Knightmare Goblin in the 3rd Main Monster Zone.
20. When Knightmare Goblin is successfully summoned, trigger the effect of A-Assault Core, add B-Buster Drake from Graveyard to Hand.

 

21. Activate the graveyard effect of Glow-Up Bulb, send the top card of the Deck to Graveyard, and Special Summon itself from the Graveyard to the 5th Main Monster Zone.
22. Using Glow-Up Bulb, Link Summon Linkuriboh in the 5th Main Monster Zone.
23. As Glow-Up Bulb that Firewall Dragon was pointing to was sent to the graveyard, trigger the effect of Firewall Dragon, and Special Summon B-Buster Drake from Hand.
24. Using B-Buster Drake + Knightmare Goblin, Link Summon Knightmare Unicorn in the 3rd Main Monster Zone.
25. When Knightmare Unicorn is successfully summoned, trigger the effect of B-Buster Drake, add C-Crush Wyvern from Deck to Hand.
26. Using Knightmare Unicorn + Linkuriboh, Link Summon Knightmare Gryphon in the 3rd Main Monster Zone.
27. When Knightmare Gryphon is successfully summoned, trigger its effect, discard C-Crush Wyvern, set Sky Striker Mecha – Hornet Drones from Graveyard to Field, then draw 1 card.
28. Banish A-Assault Core + B-Buster Drake + C-Crush Wyvern from the Graveyard, Special Summon ABC-Dragon Buster in the 5th Main Monster Zone.

 

Torque Tune Gear has incredible synergy with Union Hanger, and at the same time function as a Tuner for Link Summoning Crystron Halqifibrax.

Since this combo was able to get B-Buster Drake out early with the effect of Union Hanger, this allows Crystron Halqifibrax and Summon Sorceress to go for the Plant monsters, Glow-Up Bulb and Dandylion.

With the 2 “Fluff Tokens” from Dandylion, the revival of Glow-Up Bulb, not only does it allow Firewall Dragon to conserve its Quick Effect, it also allowed Knightmare Mermaid to stay on the field. This makes Firewall Dragon co-linked to 2 monsters, giving its Quick Effect the ability to return 2 monster cards to hand.

If we were to use the Quick Effect of Firewall Dragon to return Dandylion and then Special Summon it, we could easily go for an Extra Link.

These are 3 of the more basic standard combo for the current Sky Striker ABC.

Opening with an Extra Link is not necessarily a stronger board. In Combo 2 and Combo 3, the combo ends with 3 open Main Monster Zones for ABC-Dragon Buster to tag out during the opponent’s turn. Having Firewall Dragon‘s Quick Effect available also doubles up as an insurance to protect ABC-Dragon Buster from Called by the Grave.

The following is a likely chain of events that could happen in a competitive duel:

Chain 1: During the opponent’s turn, the player activates ABC-Dragon Buster‘s effect to banish an opponent’s card.
Chain 2: The opponent activates Sky Striker Mecha – Widow Anchor, targeting ABC-Dragon Buster.
Chain 3: The player activates ABC-Dragon Buster‘s effect, tributing itself and targets A-Assault Core, B-Buster Drake and C-Crush Wyvern that are banished.
Chain 4: The opponent activates Called by the Grave, targeting ABC-Dragon Buster in the Graveyard.
Chain 5: The player activates Firewall Dragon‘s effect, targeting ABC-Dragon Buster in the Graveyard.

The Called by the Grave on Chain 4 was a critical move that could have easily negated Chain 3 and Chain 1 in one shot. However, this tragedy was avoided with the save by Firewall Dragon on Chain 5. Now with ABC-Dragon Buster returned to the Extra Deck, it could be Special Summoned out again on the next turn using the A, B, C that were Special Summoned back on Chain 3.

This simple setup is quite a nightmare for the opponent to deal with due to the recurring ABC-Dragon Buster.
