Yu-Gi-Oh! Open Tournament Hong Kong 2014

Held on the 26th and 27th July 2014, the Yu-Gi-Oh! Open Tournament Hong Kong 2014 was the biggest premier event to be held in Asia. Yu-Gi-Oh! Open Tournament Hong Kong 2014 saw hundreds of participants over the two days, with Duelists from neighboring region such as Korea, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.

With Next Challengers released earlier in the week, this was the debut of Qliphort in a major tournament.

 

YOT Hong Kong 2014

The Yu-Gi-Oh! Open Tournament Hong Kong 2014 was a two days event. Day 1 consisted of a 6 rounds Swiss to determine the top 64 players. These 64 players will then continue in a single elimination tournament on Day 2.

The metagame was heavily dominated by Star Seraph Shaddoll. Utilizing the new Pendulum Summon, Qliphort has a strong finish at the Top 8, but was no match for Star Seraph Shaddoll. Surprisingly, a Star Seraph Agent deck took a spot in the Top 8 as well.

The finals saw two duelists who traveled from Thailand to play in this tournament. Having built the deck together, Phuttichai Khajornkiattikhun and Wittawin Waitsuparat were spotting similar Star Seraph Shaddoll decks, with only minor variation in the side deck. Eventually Phuttichai Khajornkiattikhun came out ahead and became the first Yu-Gi-Oh! Open Tournament Champion!

YOT Hong Kong 2014 Asia Premier

YOT Hong Kong 2014 Asia Premier consisted of 8 rounds of Swiss which will then determine the winners directly through match wins and tiebreakers.

Star Seraph Shaddoll continues to dominate as they took 6 spots of the Top 8. The remaining 2 spots were taken by Star Seraph Tellarknight and Infernity HERO.

Ke Liu Qiang with his Star Seraph Shaddoll managed to keep a perfect record of 8 wins and became the first Yu-Gi-Oh! Asia Premier Champion!
