Ryzeal

The standard Ryzeal build could only put out 6 Level 4 Monsters in a turn, namely from 1 Normal Summon, 4 Ryzeal Monsters Special Summons, and 1 Ryzeal Plugin Special Summon. One way to increase the Level 4 Monster count is to run a small Shark package consisting of 1 Surfacing Big Jaws, 1 Drake Shark in the Main Deck, and 1 Number 103: Ragnazero in the Extra Deck.

Surfacing Big Jaws could be added from deck to hand using Seventh Tachyon by revealing Number 103: Ragnazero. As a Spell Card was activated this turn, Surfacing Big Jaws could be Special Summoned from hand, and its ② effect could add Drake Shark from deck to hand. Then Drake Shark could be Special Summoned from hand with its ① effect.

The increased Level 4 Monster count allows the deck to go into Evilswarm Ouroboros to rip 2 cards from the opponent’s hand to when used in combination with Twins of the Eclipse.

The combo is as follow:

Activate Seventh Tachyon, reveal Number 103: Ragnazero, add Surfacing Big Jaws from deck to hand, place 1 card from your hand on top of the Deck.
Surfacing Big Jaws ① effect, Special Summon itself from hand.
Surfacing Big Jaws ② effect, add Drake Shark from deck to hand.
Drake Shark ① effect, Special Summon itself from hand.
Surfacing Big Jaws + Drake Shark → Ryzeal Duo Drive.
Ryzeal Duo Drive ③ effect, detach 2 Xyz Material, add Ice Ryzeal and Ryzeal Cross from deck to hand.
Activate Ryzeal Cross.
Normal Summon Ice Ryzeal.

If you already have Ice Ryzeal, Sword Ryzeal or Ext Ryzeal in your opening hand alongside Seventh Tachyon, then in Step 5 Ryzeal Duo Drive ③ effect could add Ryzeal Plugin from deck to hand instead.

Evilswarm Ouroboros‘ 2 cards hand rip punishes decks that cuts down on ‘hand traps’ to run a heavy board breaker build.

Oula@q4df (欧拉@q4df) finished 1st in “China City Tournament 2024 Chengdu” which had 506 participants.

Another way to raise the ceiling of Ryzeal is to run a Mathmech package consisting of 1 Mathmech Circular, 1 Mathmech Nabla, 1 Mathmech Diameter, 1 Mathmech Superfactorial in the Main Deck, and 1 Primathmech Alembertian, 1 Primathmech Laplacian in the Extra Deck.

The Mathmech package allows the deck pull off the Evilswarm Ouroboros with Twins of the Eclipse to rip 2 cards from the opponent’s hand, and then finish with Mathmech Superfactorial, which would Xyz Summon Primathmech Laplacian during the opponent’s turn to rip 1 card from the opponent’s hand, and send 1 Monster and/or 1 Spell/Trap the opponent controls to the graveyard.

The combo is as follow:

Sword Ryzeal ② effect, add Ext Ryzeal from deck.

Set Mathmech Superfactorial.

During opponent’s turn:

Activate Mathmech Superfactorial, Mathmech Circular + Mathmech Nabla + Mathmech Diameter → Primathmech Laplacian.
Primathmech Laplacian ① effect, detach 2 or 3 Xyz Materials, send 1 random card from opponent’s hand to graveyard, send 1 Monster your opponent control to graveyard, and/or send 1 Spell/Trap your opponent control to graveyard.

If you already have Sword Ryzeal in your opening hand, then in Step 12 Ryzeal Duo Drive ③ effect could add Ryzeal Cross from deck to hand instead.

This would effectively win the game if the combo is pulled off successfully. Evilswarm Ouroboros rips 2 cards from opponent’s hand, and Primathmech Laplacian rips 1 card from opponent’s hand and 1 card from opponent’s field. The opponent is now left with 2 cards facing a Primathmech Laplacian that can negate a card or effect due to Mathmech Diameter effect, and a Ryzeal Detonator with 3 Xyz Materials.

Although the Mathmech package raises the ceiling of the deck, it also lowers the consistency. The general consensus regarding Ryzeal is that its strength lies in its hyper consistency, and running additional bricks in the deck is counterproductive to the strategy.

Chayanon Kusolpakorn went 11-1 (excluding 1 bye) and finished 2nd in “Thai Festival Series Loy Krathong 2024” which had 156 participants.

Maliss

Some players are switching over to setting up Knightmare Gryphon as the end board instead of Firewall Dragon Darkfluid – Neo Tempest Terahertz. The Gryphon build end board typically consists of Apollousa, Bow of the Goddess, Knightmare Gryphon and Maliss <C> GWC-06. The Gryphon build does not aim to dominate with Apollousa, Bow of the Goddess and Knightmare Gryphon, but rather to wither down the opponent’s resources as the opponent try to break this board, and then edge out in a battle of attrition with Maliss <C> GWC-06.

As such, the Gryphon build end board is not stronger than the Terahertz build, but plays better into ‘hand traps’ by utilizing the Bystial Monsters as extenders. Shani’s teammate Mu Tairiku (ムー大陸) shared a combo video (@oooobahika) on how the deck could try to draw into a Bystial Monster if you opened with none to extend the combo. The combo also goes through 4 draws and 1 discard, which could potentially draw into additional ‘hand trap’ and traps to disrupt the opponent’s play. If you already have a Bystial Monster in your opening hand, then you should go for an early Apollousa, Bow of the Goddess to play around the opponent’s Nibiru, the Primal Being.

Shani (しゃんい) went 6-1-1 and finished 1st in “Marunouchi Yugi CS 2412 (3v3 Team Tournament)” which had 17 teams (51 players).

Blue-Eyes

Zhonghui went undefeated 9-0 during the Swiss stage of the “China City Tournament 2024 Chengdu”. He ran a further streamlined build of Primite Blue-Eyes, shaving Space Omajinai Usagi, Primite Roar and Ultimate Fusion from the Main Deck. However Blue-Eyes comes with an inherent flaw of having to play the Normal Monster Blue-Eyes White Dragon in the Main Deck. In Game 3 of the Top 16, Zhonghui drew 2 Blue-Eyes White Dragon and the deficit in card advantage ended his tournament run.

Xyz Encore is a tech against Ryzeal that is seeing an increase in play. Xyz Encore comes with the effect that neither player can activate cards or effects in response to this card’s activation, meaning that the Ryzeal player would not be able to dodge by using Ryzeal Detonator ② effect to destroy itself, and then triggering Twins of the Eclipse ② effect to Special Summon Ryzeal Detonator from the graveyard. After returning Ryzeal Detonator to the Extra Deck, Xyz Encore would Special Summon as many of those monsters that were Xyz Materials as possible. Among the Xyz Materials, if Twins of the Eclipse was properly Xyz Summoned, then it would be Special Summoned to the field. This prevents Twins of the Eclipse ② effect from triggering, buying you time to Synchro Summon Blue-Eyes Spirit Dragon whose ② effect would be able to negate Twins of the Eclipse ② effect later.

Conclusion

Terminal World 2 has little impact on the OCG metagame. Gem-Knight and Jurrac has achieved some tournament tops, but their performance is still far from Ryzeal, Maliss and Primite Blue-Eyes.
