Discussion
The Centur-Ion Combo is rather easy to pull off requiring just Stand-Up Centur-Ion!, Centur-Ion Primera or Centur-Ion Trudea to start off. There is also a high degree of consistency as Emblema Oath could search for any of them, Terraforming and Set Rotation could search for Stand-Up Centur-Ion!, and Bonfire could search for Centur-Ion Trudea.
Hot Red Dragon Archfiend King Calamity ① effect is a “When” Optional Effect, meaning that it could miss the timing if Crimson Dragon ② effect is not activated on Chain 1. For example, when Crimson Dragon is Synchro Summoned during the opponent’s turn via Stand-Up Centur-Ion! ③ effect, since it is the opponent’s turn, the opponent has priority to play a Quick Effect. In this scenario, the opponent could activate Ghost Mourner & Moonlit Chill or Infinite Impermanence targeting Crimson Dragon on Chain 1, and Crimson Dragon ② effect is now forced to respond on Chain 2. Resolving the Chain, Special Summoning Hot Red Dragon Archfiend King Calamity on Chain 2 would caused it to miss the timing to activate its ① effect. Hence Special Summoning Cosmic Blazar Dragon instead would be the next best choice.
Conclusion
Centur-Ion playstyle is extremely linear – Synchro Summon Centur-Ion Legatia and Crimson Dragon. Centur-Ion has a high power level and high consistency, but is rather prone to disruption and lacks extender to make follow up plays. As mentioned in the OCG 2023.07 Metagame Report #9, #10, Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit, Super Polymerization and Unending Nightmare are some tech cards that are being played against Centur-Ion.
The bigger issue that Centur-Ion has to solve is how to play through disruptions.
What is the app use for the board’s?
What do they do if they get Maax C? Cry?
pass with 3-4 handtraps, ready to disrupt opponent
3 Ash blossom, 2 Called by the grave, 1 Designator.
You just play on the opponents turn
Just continue playing as normal, your opponent drawing a few cards in exchange for getting calamity out is worth it
you can pass with 2 lv4 in spell trap zone and have 1 pop + 1 draw next turn
Lol, no one will play this now, people will wait for the banlist to miss that stupid synchro, then they will play it until it’s banned
